RAW Writer (Proof of Concept)

What's the sense of this program?

Many people think if they own the RAW file of an image, they can proof that they are the creator of the image, because RAW files can't be created by the computer.

This proof of concept program will show you that this is not true.

It'll show that it is easily possible to create RAW files from JPEG images - in this case, RAW files in the format of the Panasonic FZ-30.

I've decided to use the FZ-30 format, because it's an older format, which should be widely supported by RAW converters, and it is easy to implement. Practical every RAW format could be written by software - the camera firmware is also just software. ;-)

Since this is only a proof of concept, an expert can still see, that the image wasn't taken using a real FZ-30. There are many indicators like noise, CAs, hot pixels, the limited color depth of JPEG etc. to determine that this image wasn't created by a digital camera.
But if I would investigate more time into this program, it would be easily possible to add noise, CAs and hot pixels to the image, so that even experts have problems to validate the image.

Have fun!

How to use it?

1. Download the ZIP archive.
2. Extract all files which are included in the archive into the same directory.
3. Run rawwriter.exe
4. Open an JPEG file.
5. Click on "Process".
6. Wait... and done!

Hint:
The image size of the FZ-30 RAW image is 3304 x 2458 px. I recommend to use a source image in this format, otherwise the image will be stretched and the result may look soften.
